This audible story could really use an update to the narration. It was too whiney, which I don't think was the impression I got from actually reading the book myself. The most annoying part was her voice of Tad. I feel bad saying this but I felt like I was listening to an old woman who had smoked most of her life, it was rough and shaky. Her voice was too old for the main character Donna who is supposed to be a young mother. As others have mentioned, It was the narrator that really made me dislike listening to this book. Hands down, The Stand is my favorite from King but more recently I have read " Lisey's Story " and " Bag of Bones" which I also really loved. The story was good, but not really my favorite King story. I probably should have stuck with a book on this one rather than the audible. I read this book years ago but didn't really remember it much. I know I got real tired of the four year old and his crying, yet it was very realistic of real life. She was very dramatic, maybe for some, too much so. RAVER I loved the narrator and thought she did a great job. King also seemed to be worried about getting older, as there are several references to it. Like most books there is plenty of pop culture from 1981 thrown in. He hooks you by getting you to care about his characters and than he reels you in by putting them in scary situations. WEARING THE HORNS GARY DIDN'T GIVE A SH IT. That may be right or wrong, but it is what society has made us. Most men's lives are so wrapped around masculinity and if they don't have that they have no worth, as a human. As a man, if your wife cheats, it makes you question, everything in your life. Some may ask if I would have felt the hurt so much if it had been the other way around and to be honest I don't know.

King empathizes and tries to give a good excuse for her infidelity, but I felt the hurt so much that it did not work for me. I felt the hurt so much, that unlike him, I could not forgive his wife.

We are made to feel his humiliation and his hurt. The main theme revolved around a main character whose wife cheats on him. I felt that the horror was minimal, barely even classifying this as a horror novel. IT WAS AMAZING HOW BAD YOU CAN HURT WHEN THERE WAS NOTHING PHYSICALLY WRONG Like most King books, the characters are well written and fleshed out.
